Tribute to Mr. Olanrewaju Olusegun Akinola.
Today we share this farewell tribute to a beloved grand-father, father, husband, brother and a former colleague at Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, where he left a legacy of hard-work, integrity, job ownership, leadership and ‘can-do it’ spirit.
Mr. Akinola exited the company to plan his relocation to Canada as the Warehouse Manager in charge of the company stock of finished goods. He demonstrated strong integrity in faithful discharge of his responsibilities. In spite of him being older than most of his colleagues, he served with humility and integrity. He was a servant leader, and always willing to help.
He is genuinely warm open minded, and ready to speak out in protecting the interest of people around him.
The entire colleagues express their deepest sympathy to the family and pray for God to continue to abide with the entire family and the church of God.
Adieu, our dear Mr. Akinola!

Tribute To My Departed Cousin-Brother
Olanrewaju Olusegun Akinola, you came into this mortal life on December 9, 1950 and departed from it on July 15, 2024 to put on immortality.
This is a stage. You came, you played your part and left the stage when the ovation was loudest.
The loss of a loved one like you is something that would take long for me to recover from. It hurts me so deeply to lose a nice person like you.
Be that as it may, I am greatly comforted by the fact that when you were alive, you touched many lives. Thus, you helped them to fulfill their dreams.
Death, O Death, Cruel Death. Why did you take away our dear Olanrewaju Olusegun Akinola?
Thankfully, this very difficult question has been perfectly answered by the English playwright, poet and actor, William Shakespeare, who said death is a "necessary end. It will come, when it will come"
Olanrewaju Olusegun Omo Oladipo Akinola, Sun Re O.
Olanrewaju Olusegun Omo Oluremi Akinola, Sun Re O .
Olanrewaju Olusegun Oko Iyabo, Sun Re O.
Olanrewaju Olusegun Oko Adekunbi, Sun Re O.
Olanrewaju Olusegun Oko Nike, Sun Re O.
Olanrewaju Olusegun Baba Ayoola, Yetunde, Ayodele, Olabisi, Olufunke, Gbenga, Ibukun ati Tobiloba. Sun Re O.
May God Rest Your Noble Soul In Peace Amen.
Dr. Adebola Akande.

Brother Lanre, you will be missed by everyone who knew you, for various reasons. You and I had a special bond that I couldn't understand and didn't try to explain. We didn't see eye on so many issues and sometimes we didn't speak for months, but there was mutual respect.
You were at times nice, at times cantankerous and sometimes just impossible. But no one remembers the difficult times anymore; I want to believe your good side overshadowed everything else. You, with the support of your wife, Iyabo, were instrumental in bringing to Canada quite a few of your family members. For this, Baba Larry, we say thank you.
We all take solace in the fact that you've gone to rest.
Booda Lanre, to live in the hearts of those you love, is not to die.
I smile even now as I remember you always saying 'mo nronu mi' when asked a question you don't particularly want to answer.
So if anyone asks me now what I liked most about you, my answer would be 'mo nronu mi'.
Booda Lanre, may your soul rest in perfect peace.

Daddy,
You may be gone, but your memory will always live with us.
Brother Ayo, Sister Yetunde, 2nd brother Ayo, I , Funke and Gbenga, will always remember how you made us laugh so much whever you danced to your then favourite "Fuji ropopo" by Kolington and "e se o, e se o" by Shina Peters.
I will also not forget the night, on your way back from your usual TenMotel hang-out, you decided to park your then Passat Car a distance away from home, so we wouldn't know you were around. You stood by the window, eavesdropping on all of us and when you finally came in, you quoted what each and everyone of us said about you. We were all very surprised and we started laughing .
We really enjoyed the younger part of your sociable and no-nonsense life. I personally missed your old life due to long distance, but testimonies from family and associates at Winnipeg, Canada were a pointer to what we enjoyed at your younger age.
Baba Ayo, you will be remembered for your undiluted free mind and generousity towards all and sundry
Adieu Baba Larry
Rest in peace

Lanre and I go back a long way. We were colleagues at West African Batteries Ltd, Ibadan in the 1980s and 1990s. Mr Akinola as I fondly referred to him (in deference to his age as he was older than me) held the position of Accountant and subsequently Internal Auditor. We worked closely together in my time as Finance Director and later Managing Director. Mr Akinola was competent, reliable, straight talking and above all a man of integrity. His advice and support were highly valued by me.
We kept in touch and remained close after our West African Batteries days. In the years before his passing, hardly a month went by that we didn’t talk on the phone. I will miss our debates about Nigerian politics and geopolitics about which he held typically strong views.
May the Lord comfort and strengthen your family and all those you have left behind at this time.
Rest in the bosom of the Lord my friend.

Rest in piece, Mr. Olarenwaju Akinola. For every living being there is always ‘the beginning and an end’. We shared this together at Honeywell Flour Mills plc., Lagos, Nigeria. We reunited again at Canada and continued the usual ‘jokes and affections’ we used to share together in Nigeria. Little did we know that the ‘final END’ is around the corner. May the good Lord uphold the family and love ones left behind. May He grants the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Good Night.

The 65/69 classmates of Badagry Grammar School, which our beloved Olanrewaju Akinola was a member, can not believe that Lanre has left us so soon. The loss of a friend like you is something we can never recover from.
Jeje, as he was affectionately called by us, was one of the most quiet student in our class. Even though we left Badagrams almost 55 years ago, we still got ourselves together to hold quarterly meetings.
Jeje was a simple person who appreciated every one of us. He was indeed a definition of a good friend and classmate who we will never forget.
Jeje, you are gone way too soon, but we look forward to the day we will meet to part no more.
Rest in peace, Lanre.
