I knew Ken during our very young years in life. We went to the same school, played on the same hockey team, played baseball together, and played many other sports. We would often be out in the street playing football with the other kids and hockey in the back lane. Ken was the star of the show. He had a lot of friends and they enjoyed being around him and listened to him as he always had something to say. When his parents bought a rocking chair and placed it in the living room, Ken would rock so hard and fast that we thought he was going to wear the floor out. His mom would always tell him to slow down. There was a time when we slept over at his Aunt Jenny’s when I guess he was bored and needed someone to play with. Sure, I volunteered to help him out. We had a great time. We shared our birthdays, Christmas, and many other holidays together. Then at the age of 13, it was time that we separated and went our own ways. I stayed in St. James, and he moved out to St. Andrew’s. We lost touch after that. It was not until I reconnected with Barb, that I started to get some news about the family. It was nice to hear that we both got married within a year of each other. Had kids around the same time. It is with sincere sadness that I write this today. It took me a long time to find the words to write that I could contribute to his early past. He will be dearly missed by all. My sincere condolences to his wife and children, his brothers and sister, and all the family. God Bless you all.

Heartfelt condolences to all of Ken’s family and friends. I knew Ken as a friend neighbor and linemate. We played for the St Andrew’s Flyers. (When we could fly on the Ice.) and I will always remember the smirk he gave when we put one by the other guys...like there you go..that’s how it’s done! Ken reached out to my brother Ron just a few months ago which was greatly uplifting to Ron and another testament. Ken was always the solid grounded one of the crew that always had his head up and stick on the ice and it was a privilege to have known him.

Dear Teresa. I am so terribly sorry to hear of Ken's passing. I’m not sure if you know that Ron passed away In May after our 5 year cancer battle. Although we lost touch throughout the years, Ron spoke very highly of Ken, and I’m sure they are now having a blast together again reminiscing their teenage antics. Be gentle with yourself. Lots of Hugs to you and your family.

There are no words to express our sadness & heartache at the loss of our amazing brother, brother-in-law, uncle & friend.
Growing up we had the usual sibling fights, but at the end of the day we knew we always had each other’s back. Ken & I were exactly 1 year & 2 days apart in age. Ken missed Mom’s and my birthday by 2 days. As adults Mom, Ken, & I along with our spouses celebrated our birthdays together. The last few years since our Mom passed, Ken and I would meet at the cemetery with flowers in hand for Mom. (Ken’s always came from Teresa’s garden). We would then go for lunch( and of course he insisted on paying). This year Ian and I were fortunate enough to join Ken, Teresa & Tom at their house for Ken’s 65th birthday. (We ordered Chinese food & I was quick enough to grab the bill to pay, so it could be our treat for a change).
Ian was always fixing lawnmowers or snowblowers and when he couldn’t quite figure out the problem, he would say “I’ve got to call Ken”. If Ken wasn’t sure he would check his many books and either get back to Ian or just stop by to work hands on.
He was always just a phone call away.
When our boys were young and playing hockey, Ken and Tom were usually in the stands cheering them on. Ken also supported them in their adult lives and they so much appreciated his help and advice.
Ian and Ken had great times fishing & golfing (maybe a little drinking). Come October Ken would look forward to hopefully one last day of fishing and helping Ian to close up our camp for the year.
I could go on and on about how generous and kind he was and always will be in my memories of him.
Ken, I will hold you forever in my heart, until we see each other again.
Love and miss you
Barb xoxo

My Sincere Condolences to Ken’s family and Friends. I first met Ken over 30 years ago working in the rail yard in Transcona. We worked on numerous maintenance shutdowns together and if something was not working Ken would have it up and running even in -40 F weather. He was respected by all that new him and it was a pleasure working with him as an outside contractor, Ken knew his stuff. I had the pleasure of continuing our relationship after Ken’s retirement thru a mutual friend, Greg Helm as we would get
together for lunch from time to time. Those were good memories. Rest In Peace , My Friend.

Ken was my ‘brother’ since 1984. Here is a picture of all of us on my wedding day to Jason back in 2005. It was a glorious day and Ken was the only one to make me cry that day. It wasn’t because of sadness but because Ken said to me: “Good job, Vanda”. His was the only affirmation that I needed that day and it was a great feeling. Remember, you can’t pick your family but Ken chose to be part of ours. He became a brother to my husband that day and it meant the world to both of us. Today I have a hole in my heart and overtime it may fill back up again. It’s okay if it doesn’t because there are lives that are so impactful that it’s impossible to match in importance like Ken’s was. I promise as his ‘sister’ that I will look after Sarah & Thomas and will take care of Teresa. It’s what family does. Rest peacefully, brother. Vanda.

Teresa, Sarah, Thomas,
There are many words to describe how much of an extraordinary person Ken was to many. A teacher, a mentor, a source of inspiration. He was always there for his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Always lending a hand or fixing something. Losing a Husband, a father, a grandfather is never easy. There are many moments in your lives that will live on in all your memories. Keep him close to your heart, he will always be by your side. Gone too soon. May he find peace.
Our deepest sympathies.
Carmine, Alyssa and Daniel Vizza
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
