Marilyn, Please accept Susan’s and my deepest condolences for the loss of your loved one. I am sure that you have many good memories of the years that you spent together raising your family. The only consolation is that Les is no longer suffering anymore and is at peace. Les was a great guy and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Again cuz, our deepest condolences!

Fond childhood memory of my brother. Les & his friend Jimmy Thompson (also a Firefighter) use to ride their tricycles in front of Robertson School - playing Firemen. One day they took turns pulling the fire alarm in front of the School. We lived across the street from the school & I was home with mom when I heard the horns & sirens - I jumped up on to a kitchen chair & to my disbelieve I saw a sea of red in front of the School (in the 1950s Fire Trucks were red). Then I heard the slamming of the backdoor & Les came running into the kitchen & crawled under the kitchen table. I was little so I could see him curled up under the table whispering to me “don’t tell”. Knock on front door- heard a man ask my mom if a red headed boy lived here. He then walked into kitchen - he was so tall- gold buttons on his jacket & his black shoes shone. He asked my mom if she knew where Les was - I couldn’t believe my mom nor the Fire Chief could not see my brother under the table. The Chief then started his lecture on fire safety & pulling false alarms. His lecture paid off Les joined the Fire Dept. Bonus to the day - I became my brother’s best friend for awhile Ha! Ha! Will dearly miss my brother - Love Myrna

I had the pleasure of working with Les at the WFPS Training Academy. Chief Brown was a walking encyclopedia of all things relating to the Dept. and was generous in sharing it.
He also shared his great sense of humour and told the very best stories of his years on the job.
My condolences to Les' family on your loss.
