Obituary of MARIA MORAIS PAIVA FIGUEIREDO
MARIA MORAIS PAIVA FIGUEIREDO
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother Maria Morais Paiva Figueiredo on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the age of 88.
She was predeceased by her husband Jose in 1990. She is survived by son Jose (Aida); daughters, Ines (Gilberto), Maria (Antonio), Elizabeth (Jose); eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren. As well, one brother Antonio (Maria); four sisters, Virginia, Emilia, Ermelinda and Ines (living in Azores and Boston); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our mother loved cooking and baking and bringing family together for special occasions. She was always very supportive to all her family and willing to help as much as she could. She loved to travel back to Santa Maria and Boston to meet with her family and friends. She had a lot of support from all her siblings any time she went back to Santa Maria. As well, a special thank you to her granddaughter Tammy and her niece Aida (Joe) who accompanied her in her travels to Santa Maria numerous times, as well as other friends and acquaintances who helped her or accompanied her during her over 50 trips to Santa Maria.
Prayers will be held at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street North on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 28 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery.
Gratitude and kindness to the caring staff on the 4th Flr, Unit 10 at Seven Oaks Hospital. A special thank you to “Ziggy” (Physiotherapy) for all his kindness and support during her over 2 month stay at the hospital. Even though mother couldn’t speak English, Ziggy, always found a way for her to understand him. His support made a “world of difference” to our mother both physically and mentally.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
