It is with great sadness that I write these few words to my dear friend Kathy and her family. I was with Kathy the night she met Don all those years ago..Girls' night out at "The King's Plate"! Don has always been a true friend and we will miss him. We remember with great fondness the many Boxing Day Parties where we were serenaded by Don's music & his jokes!
At this sad time, Sid & I offer our deepest condolences to Kathy,Tanya & Greg and their families. We trust that Don has found the Peace he so richly deserves...
Much Love;
Charlotte & Sid

I knew Don in the very early years when we turned teenagers up until about age 18. We were very best friends and I have often said "Don would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it".
We both loved getting into the subject of cars and their repairs and he would gladly assist and even take on the greasy difficult repair jobs we came up against. Don and I would spend countless hours patrolling Portage Avenue looking at used cars for sale actually thinking we could afford the nice ones. We did eventually have a couple of old junker cars that we kept on his uncles farm. We rode our bikes a long way out to that farm on Saturdays to drive the cars around on the private property.
I have seen Don only a handful of times since I moved to BC right after graduation. I still sometimes think back at those early times when we had so much fun together. And most enjoyably I experienced all the ins and outs of the Ukrainian community in Winnipeg. Even some of the language, (although some of the words should not be repeated here).
To his family.... please accept my heartfelt condolences, I know he will be sorely missed.
Greg C.

Dear Kathy and Family, my thoughts are with you during these difficult times. Indeed, I will remember Don for his contribution to tourism and economic development in Manitoba. He was a very good administrator and of considerable help in the drafting of two generations Canada-Manitoba Tourism Development Agreements. As Co-Secretaries to both Agreements, Don and I (Charles) worked closely together and became good friends even after work hours. I will certainly remember Don for his love for the Ukrainian community to which I was introduced as a friend and enjoyed the hospitality and lengthy "humoristic" discussions at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre..
Farewell my good friend Don, I will always remember you....
