Bertha was a kind and generous neighbor to us for the last 30 years. She always took an interst in the lives of our four children (even running back to her house to grab her camera so she could take pictures of them leaving for graduation!). She offered her beautiful backyard for us to host a bridal shower for our daughter-in-law during Covid when indoor gathering was not possible. She laughed with us over the antics of our grandsons who took great joy is dragging her garbage and recylcling bins back up to her garage. They are the second generation to use her driveway for rolling down on riding toys! Her ferocious independance, her dedication to fitness, her love of travel, her legendary stories and her beautiful smile are memories we won't forget. Her family was so important to her and I felt we knew you from all she shared with us. I am grateful to have called her my friend and I hope that your memories of this great woman and time will bring comfort as you grieve her loss.

Mrs Hewitt was a Placid cove staple! She was such a kind, generous and caring neighbour. Her kindness was always part of our street; remembering important life events; thoughtful gifts, patience when we ran through her yard and had to wait for us to move our hockey nets so she could come and go. She even shared her thoughtfulness and friendship to our children as we grew up. We will always remember the great lady that was Mrs. Hewitt.

Mrs. Hewitt is part of my childhood memories; she was a kind and generous neighbour (with the steepest driveway for zooming your bike down) and the neighbourhood will not be the same without her.
