Obituary of MARIO JORGE DUARTE
It is with great sadness the family of Mario Jorge Duarte announces that he peacefully passed away on December 18th after a brief battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his parents Fernando and Maria Duarte, as well as his brother Joe.
Mario is survived by his wife of 42 years Patrice, son Scott (Kelly), daughter Stefanie (Jeff), brothers Louis and Robert, as well as his grandchildren Colin and Mason.
Mario was born in Portugal during the summer of 1960. His family moved to Canada when he was 8.
He met the love of his life Patrice in 1979, and were married 3 years later.
Mario worked hard his whole life, mainly as a forklift operator, while also enjoying stints as a welder, and other warehouse duties.
An amazing family man, someone you knew you could always count on. He loved music, especially classic rock like the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd.
Recently his greatest joy in life was his 2 grandchildren. He formed a great bond with both, and always had a smile on his face when they came to visit.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Riverview Health Centre, who made his last few days as comfortable as possible.
A prayer service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street on Sunday, December 29th at 6 pm.
The funeral will be held on Monday, December 30th at 1pm at the same location, with a burial service following at Assumption Cemetery at 3990 Portage Avenue.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either Cancer Care Manitoba or Riverview Health Centre.
