BOB ANTONCHUK

Obituary of BOB WESLEY ANTONCHUK

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of Bob Wesley Antonchuk.

Bob is survived by his two sons, Kelly and Kyle, his partner Mary Brychka, stepchildren, Craig (Kasia) Flanigan and grandchildren, Shay and Kellen in Devon, Alberta, and Erica Schmidt (Curtis). He is also survived by his brother Ron Antonchuk (Kathy) and niece, Jenny Antonchuk, and nephew, Stephen (Edita) Antonchuk, his great-nieces Rachel and Jordan, and Alana Antonchuk (Wayne).

He was predeceased by his parents, Adam (2012) and Carol (2020) Antonchuk.

Bob was born on Christmas Day in 1948 to Carol and Adam Antonchuk in the Village of Cowan, Manitoba. When Bob was seven years old, the family moved to Winnipeg. After graduating from Miles Macdonell Collegiate, Bob worked at the Winnipeg Tribune until it closed. He went on to Red River College to take night classes in computer technology.  After graduating, he began working at MacLeods Stedman in their computer department and went on to become an IT Network Specialist for their Canada-wide systems. The company went through many owners until it merged with Rona and then Lowes.  Their distribution centre closed in October 2017 and Bob was given a retirement package.

In 1971, Bob married Alana Bake and they were together for 20 years. They had two sons, Kelly and Kyle. Bob and Alana built a home with a big yard in East Kildonan and installed a swimming pool in the backyard for summertime fun. Both boys still live in Winnipeg.

In 1998, Bob met his partner, Mary Brychka. Together they enjoyed dancing, travel, and river cruises to many places in the world. He will always be remembered for his warm smile and hugs, the stories and silly jokes he would tell, and a big heart.

As per his wishes, there will be no service, and he asked that his ashes be in Cowan.  He always had such wonderful memories of growing up there before moving to Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, please contact Cropo Funeral Chapel regarding charitable donations.
