Obituary of NELLIE (ANIELA) MIKAWOS

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Nellie (Aniela) Mikawos announce the passing of their beloved grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the age of 99 years.

Nellie was predeceased by her husband Stanley (2002), son Stanley (1993) and daughter-in-law Lynda (2024).

She leaves to mourn her granddaughters Erica Mikawos, great grandson Tyler (Kaytlynn), and Jeannie Wolfram. She also leaves to mourn numerous nephews and nieces in Winnipeg and abroad. As well as her sister Anna and brother Mykolaj in Poland.

Nellie was born in Poland in 1925. Life was very hard then and the difficult decision was made to immigrate to Canada for a better life. Through hard work and determination, the family prospered in their new found home. Nellie was very enterprising. She owned and maintained several apartment buildings throughout the years.

Nellie was a kind and considerate woman who enjoyed family gatherings and being around friends. She loved cooking and entertaining for those she loved. Nellie had a quick wit and was always up for anything. She was a beautiful person who will be truly missed by all who knew her. 

Prayers will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg Manitoba. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Parish, 341 Selkirk Ave, Winnipeg Manitoba. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main Street in West St. Paul.
