Obituary of MARYANA STETSIV

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, and cousin, Maryana Stetsiv. She passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, in the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 54 years.

Maryana is lovingly remembered by her husband, Andriy, son and daughter-in-law, Rostyslav and Natalia, granddaughter, Alexandra, stepsons Oleh and Bohdan, and stepdaughter Ulia. She also leaves behind her sister, Olena and her children Mykola and Marta; her aunt and uncle, Lilia and Jerry; and cousins, Martha and Michael.

It is devastating how abruptly Maryana’s life ended. She was diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2024, but stayed optimistic while undergoing her treatment. She never lost her faith in God. Her heart was full of hope, trust, and confidence that she would win this battle and continue living her life.

Maryana was born in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada to be close to her mother. She is known by many in the Ukrainian and Polish communities for her generosity and kindness. Throughout her career as a hairstylist, and later as a Real Estate Agent, she always tried to connect with people personally, assist in any way needed, and never ask for anything in return. She will be remembered by many newcomers from Ukraine as the person who found their first house in Canada. But it is for her ability to help turn those into homes that we will remember her.

She was always the heart of the home and enjoyed hosting Christmas, Easter, and birthdays. When Maryana became a grandmother to her granddaughter, Alexandra, she took on her new role with pride, joy, and endless love. Alexandra greatly enjoyed spending time with Maryana and will miss her Baba very much.

We trust that Maryana is now in a better place, in peace. She will be forever loved and never forgotten.
