Mom was born and raised in Kenora, Ignace, Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. Mom attended Cecila Jeffery Residential School and graduated from Nursing in 1980 at St. Boniface Hospital as a registered nurse, mom then went into working with domestic violence at the Ikew-Widdjiitiwin and then retired, she then was bored of retirement and went back to school to graduate as a Medical Lab Technician to begin work at Mount Carmel doing blood work. Mom began to enter into Traditional teachings attending pow wows, sweats and the Ojibway culture. Mom spoke fluent Ojibway and when family came over for dinner especially her brothers and sisters you could hear only Ojibway being spoken. Mom loved bingo, listening to country music, some of her faves were Mr. Johnny Cash, The Possum George Jones, Mark Chestnutt, mom loved attending her grandsons hockey games, she could be heard cheering them on and after would take grandsons out for something to eat. Mom loved feeding the homeless, she had a good heart helping people being fed especially the vulnerable, she would volunteer at Siloam mission to help during festive seasons feeding the hungry. I want to end off by saying our family has been blessed to have such a loving, thoughtful mother, to enjoy being with mom at all times. I know many will miss her but as she would say I am still around just remembering the good times and smile.
Our family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital from the ER to unit 3 south, they were good at listening to instructions and providing the comfort care to the best of there ability. In lieu of flowers please donate to homeless organizations or domestic violence organizations.
