Obituary of BARRY SHALE
It is with incredible sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Barry Shale. He passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, November 16 at the age of 75 years.
He was predeceased by his mom (Mary) and dad (Bob). Barry is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 45 years Karen, children Richard (Heather) and Jillian Sitko (Mike) and his 6 grandchildren Victoria, Hunter, Tatum, Oliver, Blaze and Kruze who he loved and cherished deeply. He leaves his brothers David (Elsie) and Neil (Jackie) and his sister Wendy Murray and many special nieces and nephews. He will also be deeply missed by his best friend of nearly 50 years, Bob Langdon.
Barry met Karen in 1978 and married the love of his life in 1979. They enjoyed bowling together, many road trips and summers camping at Toniata Beach. Barry and Karen welcomed Richard in 1987 and Jillian in 1988. Barry spent many evenings and weekends at the arena watching hockey, lacrosse and ringette. He was the ultimate sports parent and their biggest fan and the best coach. He took his family camping and fishing and was a present loving father.
Barry worked as a machinist at CP Rail Weston Shops for 30 years, retiring in 2009. He was an amazing husband, brother, uncle and friend, but his favourite role was Grandfather. He was fondly known as Paka to his grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to show them how special they were and how much he loved them. He would never miss a graduation, hockey game, baseball game or a birthday party. He would always make sure to have their favourite snack ready when they came over and greeted them with the biggest hug and always way too many kisses.
Over the last years of his life he loved spending his summers at Blue Water Campground and taking his family on his Pontoon Boat. He loved making wine and having company over to drink it while playing cards. He truly loved to laugh and his cheeky sense of humour will always be remembered. He always had a smile on his face and something funny to say about his wife. She was usually (lovingly) the centre of his jokes.
The family would like to thank their neighbours, friends and family for their support, kind words and sharing fond memories. He was a special man who loved helping people and will be deeply missed by many. If friends so desire, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice in Barry’s name.
