Obituary of DENIS DUPRAS
With broken hearts the family of Denis Dupras announces his passing on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the age of 79 at St. Boniface General Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Bunnie and children Jason (Theresa), Denise (Dereck) and Marilyne, four grandchildren Nick (Eris), Robert (Lindsay), Brendon and Alexis, and one great granddaughter Ember. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Donna, Pat (Ken), brother-in-law Tim (Darlene) and sister-in-law Claudia as well as nieces and nephews.
Denis was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Jeannette and by his son-in-law Ryan, and his brothers Romeo and Louis.
Denis was born on January 22, 1945 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He went to school in Winnipeg and then Sanford, Manitoba. He worked briefly in Thompson, Manitoba but returned to Winnipeg and worked as a shear operator until his arthritis became too much to work. He met his wife Bunnie and they married in 1970 and were married for 54 years at the time of his death. He was looking forward to celebrating 55 years in June of 2025. Denis enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, fishing with his father-in-law Lorne and travelling. The first long trip was to the interior of BC to Barkerville, then with the children when they were young to Alberta and later to Disney in Florida. Then the Vegas trips at least once a year and sometimes twice. The bus tours started and he enjoyed those as he did not have to drive and they planned the trip. The last trip was a cruise.
He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and loved to see the family come over for supper or go out to a restaurant and celebrate special milestones.
The family would like to thank the WFPS, ACCU ward and all staff at St. Boniface Hospital who were looking after Denis. We would also like to thank Staff Nurses Kara and Brie, and Nurse Brad who took special care of Denis and ensured he was comfortable and was caring and compassionate to myself and Jason and Denise.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
