Obituary of MARLENE DOLORES SMITH
MARLENE SMITH
MAY 26, 1938 – AUGUST 18, 2024
After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Friend.
Left to cherish her memory are her Children: Rocky (Deborah), Billy (Kim), Rose-Marie (Rick) and her Fur Baby: Harley; Grandchildren: Michele (Glen), Travis, Dylan and Kortney; Great-Grandchildren: Brielle, Grayson, Carter and Lucas; Sister: Katherine Hepburn; Numerous Nieces, Nephews and Friends, and her Special Friend/Neighbor Yvonne.
Mom is predeceased by her Husband Ron, her Parents, Brothers-In-Law: Nelson Hepburn, Richard Domenco, and Sister: Dalphine Domenco.
Marlene was born in Winnipeg, where she grew up with her siblings until she married and had her own family.
She worked for Eaton’s in different departments for numerous years, including the Transportation Department when she eventually retired.
Marlene and Ron enjoyed numerous vacations to Florida and Arizona where they made many new friends.
Marlene had many interests. She loved bowling and enjoyed golfing where she and Ron were members at Elmhurst Golf & Country Club.
She loved to cook, bake and was an avid reader. She was also very talented and crafty and spent many hours doing needlepoint pictures, knitting, crocheting, sewing and crafts.
She also enjoyed spending time outdoors in the garden with her fur baby, Harley, whom she loved dearly.
Mom will be sadly missed by all her family and friends, and especially Harley.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society in her memory would be appreciated.
Rest in peace Mom – we love you!
