I was so saddened to hear of Patrick’s passing.
My Name is Jake Rempel and I had the privilege of working with Patrick the last few months he resided with ElDad.
Patrick became more than a client, I considered him a friend. He would make me write pages of encouraging notes that I would deliver to the Cuban people I work with and many Cubans without ever meeting Patrick, loved him as a friend and brother. I had hoped to attend his service and share it with Patrick’s Cuban brothers and sisters. There are many stories to share but I will share with you one of the things I often spoke of in Cuba and will continue to share in the future. How to measure a man’s heart.
Patrick had a big heart and a LOT of people loved him and this was obvious to myself and others who worked with him. Every evening or day we spent together Patrick would say to me, “Jake, I’m gonna call my mom, my uncle, my cousin, my girl,” and he had many girls. No matter the time or day, EVERY person he called gladly took the time to talk with Patrick and engage with meaningful conversation. I was always blessed to know Patrick had family and friends that were always there for him. Always. His heart was so big I couldn’t help but love him.
My heart aches for your loss, My spirit mourns with yours.
Patrick my friend. I miss you. We had a lot of good times even in your difficult situation. We had good times even in my difficult situation. As you ride on up to the pearly gates swing by Cuba and give out some hugs. Some giant Patrick bear hugs. Rest well brother.
