I knew Paul as be both got our teaching degree at U of W. I think it was our sense of humour and similar values in education that brought us close together. After graduation, he needed to pick up a jeep in Chicago and asked me to go with him. I obliged as I’ve never been to Chicago. Thinking we’d spend time being tourist, we literally loaded the jeep on to the trailer and headed right back to Winnipeg listening to what he called Italian disco. It showed me how focused he was which did not surprised me to extending his studies in education all the way to get his masters. That drive gave us hours of discussions about schools and families. Although our careers took us apart I knew that he will make a difference to what ever schools and communities he became part of. We have lost an important husband, parent, relative, friend, teacher, administrator and community member. May all those he left behind find the strength and comfort in this difficult time of grief.
