Obituary of KATHARINA (TINA) CHUBATY (nee DYCK)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Tina at the age of 88. She passed peacefully on July 24th with family surrounding her at the Grace Hospital. Mom did not go without a fight. She left the earth the same way she came into it, fighting.

She was born in Altona, MB and at birth she only weighed 3 lbs; she survived birth with her feisty spirit and then continued in life to have 8 children. She also survived brain aneurism and breast cancer. She was a strong and independent woman and was always up for an adventure, even travelling alone to visit friends in Germany. Mom taught her children to work hard and shared her love of cooking and baking with us. She had many talents, drawing, playing accordion and loved to entertain and have company over as often as possible. She also loved her gardening.

Mom has now journeyed on to be with her heavenly father. There is no doubt there were many waiting for her at the gate, she was predeceased by her parents Helena and John Dyck, numerous brothers and sisters, son-in-law, a great grandson and a great-great grandson, but we are sure at the front of the line waiting her arrival was her husband Stanley who left her side in 1989 and her son Wayne who we lost in 2023. We also have no doubt, Mom will be busy making her famous buns in heaven.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Darlene, Carol (Paul), Loretta (Jo), Terry (Lou), Sharon, Kelvin (Michelle), Wanda (Ed), her brothers Edward and Henry and their wives, numerous nieces and nephews, 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren and her lifelong friend Dot and family.

We would like to thank the Grace Hospital staff for all their support and a special thank you to her nurse Leah.
