ANTONIO DE FIGUEIREDO SOUSA

Peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2024, Antonio passed away at his home with family by his side at the age of 74 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Antonio Resendes Sousa and Maria De Bairos Figueiredo and sister Beatriz Andrade & brother in-law Eduardo Andrade. 

Antonio is survived by his wife Emilia Sousa, children Cristina (Marco Sousa), Sandra Sousa (Scott Boyd) and Nelia (PaulKarashowsky); grandchildren Riley, Taylor, Rhea and Mackenzie.  Also surviving are his brothers Jose (Nelia Sousa),Tony (Kim Sousa), Manuel (Lourdes Sousa) of Cambridge, ON and sister Fatima (Jose Antonio) Andrade along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Antonio was born in Santa Maria, Acores, Portugal and married Emilia on September 1, 1973.  Together they immigrated to Canada in 1974 where they raised their family.  Antonio spent most of his working years at Empire Iron Works, retiring in October 2016 at the age of 66. 

He cherished time with family and tranquil moments at the lake.  His greatest joy was his grandchildren who always brought a bright light to his life.  

The family especially thanks the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit and the Comfort Keeper and Home Care Staff members.

Prayers will be said on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 12:00 noon in Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street North.  Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Liver Foundation.

He will be greatly missed.
