Obituary of ED KORNAGO
EDWARD KORNAGO
Peacefully, on Friday, April 5, 2013, Edward Kornago, aged 78, passed away at the St. Boniface General Hospital with family by his side.
Ed was born on September 6, 1934 at St. Boniface General Hospital. On May 17, 1958, he married Patricia Julia Wicharenko of Cooks Creek, MB. Ed worked at Century Motors and then Canadian National Railway for 39 years. He enjoyed many activities during his life including curling, snowmobiling, dancing, gardening, farming and travel, especially camping with his family. His quick wit and humorous comments always kept a smile on those around him. You frequently saw Eddy with a hat and a toothpick as part of his standard apparel.
He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his son Alan (Gilly), daughter Sharon (Darren) and grandchildren, Shannon, Jennifer, Adelin, Cole and Renae. Also mourning his passing are sister Eleanor (Leonard); sisters-in-law Irene and Sharon; nieces and nephews, Ron, Darlene, Terry, Trevor, Carl, Curtis, and Clifford; and several relatives and friends.
Ed was predeceased by his wife Patricia, his parents Nicholas and Julia, and brothers Ernie and Lornie.
Many thanks for the extra care from the medical staff, especially Dr. Kowaluk, and nurses Jocelyne and Amanda. Special thanks to Father Jorge Villegas for his friendship and assistance during this difficult time; and Tina Chubaty for her companionship and support.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Friday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m. with a reception to follow. A private interment will take place on a later date at St. Michael’s parish cemetery in Cooks Creek, MB.
Please send donations to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or www.cancercarefdn.mb.ca. It would be greatly appreciated.
