Obituary of GERHARDT EDEL
Gerhardt (Garry) Edel was born in the Shevlin MB area on February 5, 1931. He grew up in a large family in a pioneer’s log house. Though his family was poor, the home was full of the love of Christ. Garry was baptized into Christ at St John Lutheran Church, Shevlin. Christ and His gifts of the forgiveness of sins and eternal life had hold of him his entire life. He married Violet Yuzik on July 1,1961 at Melville SK.
Garry & Violet have three children: Kenneth (Claudia); Gaylene (Robert); Blair (Elaine). There are four grandchildren: Kelsey, Hannah, Luke, and Brayden. Garry was a humble man, devoted husband, and loving and compassionate father and grandfather.
He learned to play guitar and accordion by ear, often playing and singing good old country and gospel songs. He was dedicated to his job at Manitoba Hydro for 41 years. Garry’s earthly life ended in Christ on May 26, 2024 and so his soul rests before the Saviour.
A service where the Lord proclaims the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting will take place at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Avenue W. on Saturday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon and interment at Glen Lawn Cemetery, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard.
Memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
