DARLENE KAREN MARIE KOTCHON
1966-2024

Darlene Kotchon passed away suddenly on May 15, 2024 at her home at the age of 57 years old.

She was predeceased by her father Walter Kotchon.

Darlene leaves her mother Nettie and three brothers Robert (Leanne), Wayne (Donna), and Jeff, nieces and nephews Megan, Braden, Terra (Brendan), Breanna (Josh), Ryan, and Jason, grandnephew Odin, as well as extended family and many friends.

Darlene was born and raised in Transcona and loved spending time outdoors.  She attended Red River College and exceled at her work as a legal assistant. She also worked for Hansard as a transcriber at the Manitoba Legislature where she also earned kudos for her work.

Darlene attended many classic rock concerts as well as the Royal Ballet. She spent her recreation time at Minaki. She met many friends at Minaki and learned to fish there.  Darlene’s best memories were from her time spent with Martin and his boys and cooking Holiday dinners for the family. There were also winter garage events where everyone was welcome if there was smoke in the chimney.

Mental Health Awareness is a current topic affecting people everywhere. Darlene had her struggles throughout her life in dealing with this which caused numerous highs and lows. Her last words described Minaki as her paradise and her desire for cremation and that her ashes be spread at Winnipeg River and Minaki.

A Celebration of Life event will be held at a later date.
