Obituary of WALTER KONARSKI
WALTER KONARSKI
On April 2, 2013, with his beloved family by his side, Walter left this world to be with God. He was 80 years old.
Besides his ever so loving wife, Luba, who he was married to for 54 years, dad also leaves to mourn his two daughters, Cathy and Teresa (Tim, the son he never had but loved more than he knew). Dad also leaves to mourn his brother Alex (Bev) and sister Olga, along with several nieces and nephews.
Dad was predeceased by his mother Maria of Winnipeg and his father Michael of the Ukraine.
Dad was born November 1, 1932 in Kizliw, Ternopil Western Ukraine and arrived in Canada in 1952. On dad’s journey from the Ukraine to Canada, he lived in many different countries including Germany and Venezuela, from which he told us many stories.
Dad worked at CN for 30 years before retiring in May 1994. His love for woodworking showed in the cottage he built in Winnipeg Beach along with all his other projects, which included his many birdhouses. The love and kisses that he would get from puppies Maggie and Penny would light up his face.
Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Saints Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St., with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat Michael Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom, Wayne, Kelly, Garrett, Glen and Taras. Honorary pallbearer are Alex S, Nick, Zenon, Rod and Ryan
Donations can be made in dad’s name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg MB R3L 0K6 or to the Cathedral Renovation Fund.
