Obituary of HELENE LEMAY
HÉLÈNE LEMAY
(nee Lenabat)
May 12, 1926 – March 18, 2024
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Helene Lemay (Lenabat) aged 97 on March 18, 2024.
Helene was predeceased by her parents, and her three sisters, her loving husband Marcien and sons Claude and Robert.
Helene is lovingly remembered by her daughter Gisele (Terry), grandchildren Kevin, Michele, David and Gabriel as well as seven great grandchildren.
Helene was born in St. Boniface on May 12th 1926, and resided in Winnipeg as well as their cottage in Lac du Bonnet.
Helene and Marcien were actively involved in the arts. She was one of the founders of the Medea Gallery. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in the 80’s. Helene devoted her life to her family and her passion for painting, with many of her works being enjoyed by clients, family and friends.
Summers were spent at their cottage where she and Marcien did their art in their studio and were showcased on a CBC documentary of their works. The lake was also where she loved gardening and enjoyed time with family and friends.
Helene was a loving, talented, strong and determined woman and will be greatly missed. Despite her many years with dementia Helene was always courageous to the end.
We are deeply grateful to the staff of Park Manor Care Home for their compassionate care and kindness towards Helene and her family throughout her nine years there.
A celebration of Helene’s life will be held come summer with her family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Park Manor Care Home.
