Obituary of Manuel Da Costa Viveiros
MANUEL DA COSTA VIVEIROS
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manuel Da Costa Viveiros on March 20, 2024 with the love of his family surrounding him.
He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 65 ½ years, Maria Angelina, sons Manuel (Marlene), Samuel (Maria) and daughter Natalia (Gregory); his grandchildren, Ashleigh, TJ, Emerson, Brenden and Christian; sister Maria Jose and siblings-in-law Manuel, Conceicao and Jose; cousins, nephews, nieces, and Godchildren.
Manuel was born on September 5, 1931, in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 to work on the railways. In 1958, he married his love, Maria Angelina. In 1959, 1965 and 1971, his sons and daughter were born. Manuel was a hard worker and loved being with his family and friends, talking, playing cards, checkers and dominos. We would always find him watching daily mass, attending Sunday mass, member of Legion of Mary, reading the newspaper, gardening, and yearly wine and sausage making. He loved soccer (only when Portugal was playing) and hockey with his team Toronto Maple Leafs and would tease his children and grandsons about who was going to win. He was always willing to help everyone especially his family with any home projects. He was our superhero husband, dad and vovó who would do anything for us.
Prayers will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, 7:00 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St, N. with entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave.
We would like to thank family and friends for their loving support throughout these last years and the staff at St. Joseph Residence for the care that was provided to Manuel.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
