My sincere condolences to Sharon's family and friends. I worked as a part-time dishwasher in the kitchen while a boarding student at SJR. The guidance and influence of Sharon (and the rest of her team, including Bill Bailey) actually influenced me tremendously, so much so that I later became a chef, restaurant owner, and food entrepreneur. SIncerely, Lyle Beaugard, SJR '83

Sharon's passing makes me sad and I send condolences to her family. However, as I write this I am smiling. All the time I worked at SJR I loved my visits to the kitchen. She was a very good leader of her team. They respected her and they worked for her for a long time. I too have kept in occasional touch with her through social media. Yet I can still see her in my mind's eye, sitting in that little office in the kitchen surrounded by papers and filing cabinets, her door always open. All my visits are associated with laughter - she and the staff were like family. It is a tribute to her to find myself reading what other staff have written with such fondness and respect.

As a student in the 60s, the food at SJR was horrible and I have never been a fussy eater. The morale of the kitchen staff was terrible. Sharon transformed the kitchen into a happy work place that took pride in what they served. Sharon was a friend and we stayed in touch through social media and the very occasional visit. Sharon and her crew actually threw me a wedding shower which was hilarious. we all had a great time and I have never forgotten the gesture or the friendship over the 18 years I worked with her. She was a fabulous cook, a fantastic leader and a friend.

Sharon was a wonderful person. She ran the kitchen at SJR when I was a student and she was still there when I returned as a teacher, and she was always all about doing the best she could for students and staff. Sharon always went the extra mile. So sad to hear of her passing. Sincere condolences to her family, Sharon made us all better people.

Sharon was a genius cook, taking tastes, likes and dislikes and multiple demands on a limited budget to new levels in her role as food services manager at SJR. The food was good... plain and filling. She took her job seriously and cared about what was put on the table and how it was received. She adjusted to taste as required. She loved what she did, she loved her family both at school and at home.
When asked to decorate our wedding cake, she spent hours learning to manage fondant, marzipan and piping techniques to make it right. It was beautiful and a reflection of Sharon's pride in presentation.
Sincere condolences on her passing.

I was fortunate enough to know Sharon through our years working together at SJR. She was always gracious, kind and hard working. We all thought the world of her. To her family, especially to her daughter Elizabeth, please accept my heartfelt condolences. May her memory always be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

I had the pleasure of working with Sharon at St. John's-Ravenscourt School from 1999 until her retirement in 2008. Upon her retirement, I was pleased to support her nomination to receive the School's Distinguished Service Award, given in recognition of the advances in food service and quality that she implemented in her years as Manager. The School still benefits from many of the initiatives she led. Please accept my condolences on your loss.
