ROY PIMENTEL

Obituary of ROY PIMENTEL

RUI (ROY) FERNANDES PIMENTEL

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, son, brother and grandson, Rui (Roy) Fernandes Pimentel, at the age of 46 on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Roy leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Keri and their 3 children, Aidan, Nyla and Marko.

He also leaves to mourn his parents John and Tina Pimentel, his brother Randy Pimentel and his daughters, Layla, Madison and Cali; his grandmother, Maria Pimentel; his sisters-in law, Lori (Shane) and Tracy along with many wonderful nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends, including his beloved dogs Buddy and Ace.

Roy is predeceased by his grandfather, Joao Pimentel; his grandparents Filomena

Jamie Figueiredo and his father-in-law Paul Romanoff.

Roy grew up in the Garden Grove area of Winnipeg and attended Garden Grove Elementary, Stanley Knowles Middle School and Sisler High School. Roy had a competitive nature and loved to play sports.

He started playing hockey at a young age and continued in high school and played for North Winnipeg Satellites. Roy enjoyed the summer, going to Winnipeg Beach to see family at the cabin and water skiing on the lake.

Later, Roy took up golf and would play many courses in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.

Roy met Keri in 1996 while working at McDonalds at the McPhillips Street Station and shortly thereafter began dating and became inseparable. They loved to travel together to places like Las Vegas, Mexico and spent a month in the Azores, Portugal with Roy's family.

Following their adventures, life had begun. They purchased their first home and were married in 2003. Soon after they welcomed their first child, Aidan, followed by Nyla and Marko, quickly becoming a family of 5.

Roy's greatest joy was being a dad and he would do anything for his kids.

He was always involved with their sporting activities, whether it was football, soccer or hockey. He would volunteer at his kid's school and field trips as well as coach both football and hockey when given the opportunity.

He loved watching the boys play hockey and could always find him standing by the glass cheering them on. He most recently was taking Nyla to practice her driving skills.

Despite the many challenges Roy faced with his health, he always gave his all for his family

and he will forever be missed.

We would like to extend a special thank you for the outpouring of love and support from all our friends, family, hockey families and the Portuguese community during this very difficult time.
