Obituary of BARBARA ANNE BALE

March 23, 1950 – January 6, 2024.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Barbara (Mom, Baba) with family by her side at the St. Boniface Hospital on January 6, 2024, at the age of 73 years.

She will be forever missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Bryan Bale; her son Bruce and daughter-in-law Lise; son Eric; her three grandchildren William, Miguel and Marie Rose. She also leaves to mourn her passing her sister-in-law Beverley and niece Kimberley (Scott).

She was predeceased by her parents Myrslaw Pawlowich and Anne Pawlowich (Mospanchuk); her brother Gordon Pawlowich; her nephews Richard Pawlowich and Jeffrey Pawlowich; aunts Yvonne Leitch and Lily Shindle; her parents-in-law Wilfred Bale and Amelia Margaret Bale (West) and her brother-in-law Donald Bale.

Mom was born at Winnipeg General Hospital and grew up in Broad Valley, Manitoba on the family farm before they moved to Winnipeg when she was 5 years old. She went to Andrew Mynarski Junior High and graduated from Sisler High School. In junior high she won the Winnipeg senior girls’ softball championship. She also enjoyed playing basketball. She studied Medical Laboratory Technology and graduated from these studies in 1971. This was her field of employment until her retirement in 2015. She and Dad were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Winnipeg on April 24, 1971. They built and settled in their forever home in St. Andrews, Manitoba and eventually purchased the family cottage in West Hawk Lake which they used frequently. Mom and Dad also took pleasure in going to Acapulco, Mexico with friends from St. Andrews and delighted in the many St. Andrews social gatherings. Mom loved spending time by the pool at home and at the lake, sitting out on the deck watching the birds, reading a book, and soaking in the sunshine.

The family would like to thank the ICU staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their exceptional kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the charity of your choice.

Celebration of life and interment to be held in the spring of 2024, date to be determined.
