Obituary of TED TRETIAK

TED TRETIAK It is with heavy hearts that our family wishes to announce the passing of our loving husband, father, and grandfather Ted, at Riverview Health Centre, on March 22nd, 2013, after a battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Mary. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Kathy, son Wes (Lisa), grandchildren Averi and Zakk, daughter Wendy (Brad Baydock), grandchildren Ben and Alicia. He also leaves his brother Dan and family, his sisters-in-law and brother-in law and their families. Ted was born and educated in Winnipeg, graduating from the University of Manitoba with Bachelor of Science and Public Administration degrees. His career led him to data processing, and he retired from IBM (formerly ISM) in 1994. Ted and Kathy enjoyed traveling to Florida, Hawaii, and Arizona many times. Together they attended the theatre and symphony regularly. Ted loved Monday Night Football, golfing, gardening and attending Goldeye's games with his grandson Ben. Ted's greatest joy was his family. He dedicated his life to being a loving husband, father, and Papa. He was selfless and generous, a true blessing to us all. Ted had a strong faith, and he and Kathy were long time members of St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox church. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 27th, 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Father Michael Skrumeda and Father Alexander Harkavyi officiating. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Thank you to the palliative care team at Riverview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or the charity of one's choice. Ted, you were the sunshine of my life, and the wind beneath my wings. I will love you and miss you forever. Kathy.
