Obituary of SUSAN JAY HANUSCHUK

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Susan Jay Hanuschuk (Kolas) on January 2, 2024

Susan, affectionately known as Sue, Susie Q, or Mom, left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. With her warm spirit and welcoming nature, Sue had an incredible ability to make people feel at ease and valued. Her beautiful and unique blue eyes reflected a depth of kindness and compassion that touched the lives of many.

Though she had her challenges, she always found ways to show dedication as a mother to her four children – Jessica, Jacob, Rebecca, and Peter. Beyond her own family, she became a surrogate mother to their friends, creating a home where everyone felt embraced and loved.

Beyond her children, Sue came from a large family, leaving behind a sister and brothers, and many nieces and nephews. She joins her parents (Dali and Bill Kolas) and older sister now.

Sue was a true jack of all trades, demonstrating her versatility in various roles throughout her life. From wielding a welding torch to undertaking home renovations or providing comfort and care to many as a nursing aid, she fearlessly embraced all roles and responsibilities. Her artistic talents also shone through in her work as a painter, with her creations adorning homes throughout Winnipeg.

Sue was a collector which was evident in any space she called home. Whether it was “Treasures”, keepsakes, plants, or jewelry, her collections were a testament to her sentimental nature, a reminder that even the smallest tokens held meaning. She also loved nature, instilling in her children an appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors and all its creations.

Though Sue has left this earthly realm, her memory lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those she touched with her kindness, warmth, and boundless love. May she rest in peace.
