Obituary of JOSE FRIAS
JOSE FRIAS
June 10, 1945 – January 2, 2024
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, brother and uncle Jose Frias on January 2nd, 2024 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital.
Jose was born to Antonio Inacio and Maria dos Anjos Frias on June 10th 1945 in the town of Santo Antonio on the Azores Island of Sao Miguel. He would later immigrate to the United States (Fall River, MA) in 1967 where his two sons James and Joseph would soon be born. In early 1974 he made Winnipeg his new home and would find the love of his life and soul mate Maria Gracinda shortly thereafter. They were happily married for 47 years and could often be found lovingly doting on each other. Throughout their years together they enjoyed several extended stays back home in Sao Miguel where they loved to spend time with family and friends in the beauty and culture of the island.
Jose is survived by his adoring wife Maria Gracinda, son Joseph (Fall River, MA), sister Maria Helena (Antonio) Reis, brothers Antonio (late Maria dos Anjos) Frias and Raul (late Herculana) Frias and their respective families. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Maria dos Anjos and son James (Fall River, MA).
The family would like to extend a special thank you to America Cortez for her constant support of both Jose and Maria during his extended illness.
Visitation will take place at 11.15 a.m. before the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 12 noon, Immaculate Conception R.C. Church 181 Austin St. North, Winnipeg. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
