Joe Maloney

May 10, 1942 – November 21, 2023

Joe passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 21, 2023.

Joe was predeceased by the love of his life, Paulette of 44 years in 2009; parents James and Viola; sisters Vera and Lois; brother Lloyd; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and devoted companion Betty Edkins. Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his two children, Sean (Lisa) Maloney and Joelle (Joe) Landreville; his grandchildren, Sydney and Cara Maloney, Kaitlyn, Stephanie, and Brett Landreville. Joe is also survived by sister Eunice Donald and Ron (Lois) Maloney, numerous nieces, nephews, many friends, and special companion Wanda “Micky” Wall.

Joe was born May 10, 1942 and was raised in Oakville, Manitoba. He moved to Winnipeg and married Paulette (nee Morrison) on June 6, 1965. Their first child Sean was born in 1967 followed by Joelle in 1969.

Joe worked at Manitoba Hydro for more than 35 years. He was proud to be a lineman and forged many friendships over his career. Following retirement in 1997, Joe and Paulette enjoyed their summers camping in Lancaster, MN and winters in Weslaco, Texas.

Joe will be remembered for his sense of humor and ability to tell a good or a bad joke. His easy going and friendly nature lead him to forging many friendships in both Canada and the US. Joe loved to sing and entertained many through his love of Karaoke. He loved the company of others and the feeling was mutual.

The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care, compassion, and support of the doctors, nurses, and staff on 5 North at the Grace Hospital.

Cremation has taken place and to respect Joe’s wishes there will be no formal service.

A celebration of life and interment will take place at a later date.
