ELIZABETH (BETTY) MYKYTYSHYN

(nee Higgins/Price)

May 29, 1942 – November 19, 2023

Peacefully with her family at her side Elizabeth passed away at the age 81 years.

She is predeceased by her husbands Donald Price, Roy Mykytyshyn, daughter Anne-marie Mykytyshyn, parents Charlie and Kaithaline Higgins, three sisters Glady, Ethal & Georgina as well as several in laws and three grandsons.

Left to mourn her loss are her children Dawn Park (Clayton), Daryl Price (Eileen), Kim Philipchuk (Larry); grandchildren Troy Thomson (Erica) of Stony Creek Ont. Hope Ruluen (Nick) of Matlock, MB, Kayla Price (Justin) of Hamilton, Ont., Josh Price (Amber) of Dunnville Ont., TJ Gorrill (Deanna) of Winnipeg, Kendra Leimer(Miles) of Winnipeg, Amber Philipchuk (Tyler) of Narol, MB., Jenifer Philipchuk (Tim) of Carmen, MB., Sean Martin of Winnipeg, Skyla Martin (Brandyn) of Winnipeg; great grandchildren Alexis, Roxanne, Monroe, Scarlett, Kaylie, Mya, Westyn, Mazie, Andreas, Azarius, Tristian, Avari and two new great grandchildren on their way. She also has a sister Kay Bedell and brother Charles Higgins (Helen); sisters-in-law Lynn Bailey (Wayne), Helen Mykytyshyn and Stephie Sumka (Ed) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth (Betty) was born in Onslow Nova Scotia. Later, she traveled to Hamilton, Ont. and met her first husband Donald who was deceased in 1972. Afterwards, she met her second husband of 51 years, Roy Mykytyshyn who was deceased in 2006.

She worked at many businesses in Winnipeg until she found her favorite job at Ukrainian National Home on Burrows Avenue for 30 years until its closure in 2011. Afterwards, she worked at The Polish Club (Polish Fraternal Aid Society) on Mountain Avenue & Arlington Street until her retirement. She had met many, many people and made friends over the years working with the public.

Mom was loving, kind hearted person who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved her pet dogs very much.

Elizabeth’s family would like to send a special thanks to the third-floor staff of Oakview Place for their compassionate care.
