Obituary of SLAVKA (SYLVIA) BOUCHARD
SLAVKA (SYLVIA) BOUCHARD
(NEE MUZAR)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Sylvia Bouchard, a remarkable woman who lived her life to the fullest-a blessing and inspiration to all those she met. Sylvia passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 15, 2013 at the St. Boniface Hospital.
Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Martina, Angela, her brother Franc; her children Steve (Adelia), Judy (Trevor), Noel (Adrienne), Joe; her grandchildren Kevin, Richard, Stephanie, Alex and Jake.
She was predeceased by her husband Claude; her parents Maria and Jure; her sister Reska; her brothers Stanko and Lojz.
Sylvia was born in Slovenia on October 20, 1934. She came to Canada at the age of 25 for adventure and opportunity. She worked at the Health Sciences Centre where she met her husband Claude. Both shared an entrepreneurial spirit and opened a moving company in Winnipeg and a motel and cabin rental business in Grand Marais, Manitoba.
Mom loved spending her summers at Grand Marais; she loved to travel, exercise and dance. She deeply enjoyed the company of all her dear friends. Her positive outlook and generous spirit will never be forgotten.
Special thanks to all the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their loving kindness.
Prayers will be said on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 9:30 a.m. also at the Chapel. Entombment will be at Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum 3990 Portage Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sylvia’s memory to the Manitoba Lung Association.
