Obituary of PETER ERVIN BLOCK

Peter Ervin Block

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

Peter was the first of 9 children. He was born on May 28, 1943 to Peter and Helen Block of Grunthal, Manitoba.

On November 11, 2023, Peter passed away peacefully with family by his side at St. Boniface Hospital.

Peter was predeceased by his father (Peter) and mother (Helen), 2 brother’s infancy (Ronald and Gary), brother (John), sister-in-law (Diane) and grandson (Jordan).

Peter lived most of his life in Lockport, Manitoba. His true passion was for the outdoors. From hunting, trapping, sledding but most of all fishing with his family.

Peter is survived by his three children, Terry (Blair), Darryl and Michael (Diane). Five siblings, Elvin, James (Laurel), Betty (Peter), Edward, Mariann (Joe) grandchildren, Kristin, Jennifer, Brandon, Nicole, David, Justina, Sarah and Robert. Great Grandchildren Michael, Elijh, Olivia, Delilah, Cooper and Eloise and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the staff at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home for their excellent care and compassion they gave Peter over the few years he was there.

If someone should ask for me, tell ‘em heaven is where I’ll be.

I’ve finished all my life’s chores, and now I fish on heavens shores.

The view is grand and the fishing is great, But I yearn for you as I wait.

Ill save a spot on the rivers bend, for all those I call family and friend.

But for now, sail out to sea and make a cast in memory

to all the good times that you had,

We – Me – Your friend, your grandpa…. Your dad

and if the fish no longer bite

or seem no longer worth the fight,

because its me that your missin’,

don’t worry – be glad I’ve only gone fishin’
