MARCEL JOYAL

Obituary of MARCEL DAVID JOYAL

It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of our Father Marcel who passed away at the age of 71 with family by his side at home in La Broquerie, Manitoba. He fought his battle against cancer for five short months. Despite how sick he got he never lost his sense of humor throughout his entire journey, he cracked jokes with his adult children, made ridiculous faces with his grandkids, he was even the star of his own air band- playing the lead electric guitar, and he loved to joke around with his nurses acting goofy and playing tricks on them. He loved to make others smile and his sense of humor will be very missed.

Marcel is lovingly remembered by his children Gerald (Nancy), David, Samantha (Joel); Grandchildren Justin (Shannon), Ashley (Brett), Madison, Tallin, Ava, Hudson, and Great Grand Child Alexis as well as his siblings Sonny, Cecile and Claire.

Marcel was a devoted Father and always was around to help one of his children with whatever they needed whether it was a ride somewhere, babysitting, or borrowing a few bucks or simply just to listen to them vent. He was also the best Grandpa, he had a lot of names given to him by his grandkids like Papa, Pops and Gramps! Marcel worked for the City of Winnipeg for nearly 40 years before retiring in 2021, he met a lot of great friends along the way and always had some sort of stories to share with us about his workdays. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outside whether it was weeding, gardening or watching the grandkids run around. In the winter months you could find him watching a Jets game cheering loudly when they scored. He truly just liked to be around people, he was our social butterfly and enjoyed a good laugh and a good time. He will be missed by many, but we take comfort in knowing he is now at rest and is reunited with the love of his life, his beloved Terry.

Dad you will always be in our hearts and loving memories it’s now time to rest peacefully in God’s care.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and a service is being planned and will be announced soon.

A Father

A light from our household gone,

A voice we loved is stilled,

A place is vacant in our home,

Which never can be filled,

God gave us a beautiful Father,

A Father who never grew old,

You were always there.

With a helping hand,

Help us now to accept his plan.

We miss you now, our hearts are sore,

As time goes by, we miss you more.

Your loving smile, your gentle face,

No one can take our “Father’s Place”

May the chairs of the angels receive you

And may you have rest and peace everlasting.

Amen.
