Obituary of DONNA MARIE LANDICK

DONNA MARIE LANDICK

(nee Repski)

November 11, 1957 – September 8, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dearest mother Donna. She was a wife, mother, sister, and grandma. She passed away peacefully but far too soon on September 8, 2023, at the age of 65. She had been diagnosed with cancer only a short month ago.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Rob, and daughters Jessica (Dustin), Stacy (Kris) and their daughter Peyton (Donna and Rob’s first grandchild), her brothers Robert and Brian (Laurel), and their children Alanna and Garrett as well as numerous cousins. Donna was predeceased by her parents John and Jessie Repski.

Donna was born November 11, 1957, in Winnipeg, and grew up as the middle child between older brother Robert, and her younger brother Brian. Donna enjoyed learning her cooking skills from her mom, and started to become known for cooking good food enjoyed by all.  A loving and committed daughter, Donna helped out her mom a lot around the house.  Donna started working early in her life, trying various careers until she landed at Indigenous Services Canada where she worked for many years until she retired. She met and married her one true love Rob on December 12, 1992.  They built a terrific life together and recently celebrated 30 fabulous years of marriage.  They brought two amazing daughters into the world who have grown to become young, accomplished women – first Jessica on August 18, 1993, and then Stacy on January 27, 1995.  One of her greatest joys was helping and guiding them as they grew up.  She was so very proud of them both.  Donna was absolutely thrilled to become a grandma to Peyton and loved to spend time with her.  She always lit up when Peyton was around and loved to spoil her.

For Donna, family was her center.  She loved getting the family together to celebrate the holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions.  She enjoyed cooking and she and Rob hosted many wonderful dinners in their home.  Many memories are of Donna at family gatherings, cooking and enjoying music – she did enjoy singing and dancing, and was often heard to sing along (with every song sounding country). Donna had a wicked sense of humour. She was very outspoken, direct, and known for speaking her mind. Donna loved nothing more than to find a great deal, and she jokingly nicknamed herself Cyber Donna. Amazon is definitely going to miss her.

Our lives became dimmer September 8 and there is a hole in us all that will be impossible to fill.  Our hearts ache as we write this in her honour.  Never one to complain, and rarely ever putting herself first, Donna only became aware of her cancer at the beginning of August, and only learned of the seriousness of her diagnosis in the last week.  While we had all hoped for more time with her, she was, as always pragmatic and made sure that we were all aware of her wishes. She will be cremated and a private family gathering will be held.

Respecting our mothers wishes, she will be cremated and a private family gathering will take place. Our family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at Health Sciences Centre for their thorough, kind, and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers please donate to Cancer Care Manitoba in Donna’s memory

As Donna would say….”take a chance……s#%t your pants”!

Donna, you will be forever in our hearts and forever missed.
