KEVIN MICHAEL BURKE

Obituary of KEVIN MICHAEL BURKE

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness to announce the passing of Kevin Michael Burke, August 10th, 2023. Born on January 17th, 1960, in Great Britain to Brenda and Nicholas Burke. On August 3rd Kevin was transported to the Grace Hospital ICU, where he was put on life support. Though the challenging wait began hoping and praying for improvement, he fought his last fight.

Left to cherish his memory is his spouse and soul mate Lori, of 27 years. Fate is what brought us together. Stepson-Robert (Rachel), and grandchildren - Aaliyah, Sunny, and Xavier. Kevin’s fur babies- Peanut & Teddy. Kevin’s sister Nicola (Brian), with 3 nieces & family. Sister Alicia (Don) with 2 nieces & family. Sister-in-law Kelly, 2 nieces & 1 nephew. Sister-in-law Kim (Glenn) + family. Brother-in-law Ron (Judy) + family - Hirdie Alta.

Kevin was pre-deceased by parents Brenda and Nicholas at an early age. Brother Mitch December 2022.

Redwood Ave is where he spent most of his life until 1997 - the year of the flood where he sold the house - started his new life.

Kevin had 2 families namely: The Pit family in Stonewall where he started his career. 34 years ago, until his passing. First with Wakshinsky Bros, followed by Inland Aggregates. He was a Driller, Blaster-then Lead Hand. An intense job, but gratifying - he loved the adrenaline rush come blasting day - perfection, precision, otherwise not happening. Kevin always feared blasting where the birds nested or any other little creature, for fear of harming them. He always said, “you only have one chance at this, so make it count.” He loved all animals, big or small.

For all who stood by him, I will be eternally grateful. Special thanks go out to his work husband Kevin, for looking out for him. He gave you the knowledge and the tools, so Get er’ done. He was so proud of you. He always said, “I couldn’t do my job right now if it weren’t for Kevin.”

Kevin had countless friends, too many to name, you know who you are. Valued friends - Wayne and Cowboy Al. Long-time co-workers and friends Bob, Graeme, Coach.

Your friendship didn’t go unnoticed.

When Kevin spoke, everybody listened.

A big thank you to all the ICU angels at the Grace for their endless care they provided. Takes a team to do what you do. Thank you for all the prayers, texts, and calls during Kevin’s ordeal. Much appreciated.

Well Kev: I always said I’ll be there for the duration, that was my vow to you. So, on that note: Start a fire, surround yourself with all of your fur babies, order some shrimp and rice; play a tune, watch a documentary and enjoy. 3-2-1 Blast off.

See you on the otherside. Miss and love you always. Lor

Always keep the faith and always look at the glass half full rather than empty.
