Obituary of Gerald Marand

Gerald Marand

January 26, 1953 - August 4, 2023

 

It is with heavy and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Marand (aka: G) at the age of 70.

 

Gerald leaves to mourn his love of 14 years Debra Martin. His daughters Marcy (Dave), Christina (Brent),Tanis (Huey), Tracy (Matt) and Nikki; son Nicholas (Christina); granddaughters Jenna, Tina, Keziah, Vienna, Siera, Kassy, Kiana; grandson Hunter and great granddaughter Isabella.

Gerald also leaves behind sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

 

Gerald was pre-deceased by his parents Clarence & Simone Desjarlais, sisters Mary Anne & Jeannie and brothers Alfred, Charles, George and

his best friend Duke and nephews Neil and Reo. 

 

Since moving back to Winnipeg, Gerald was the caretaker of 2 apartment buildings.

Before that, he lived in British Columbia for 40 years where he had his own carpet cleaning and restoration business.

 

Gerald loved motorcycles and rode since 1974. Gerald was always laughing and having a good time. He loved old country music especially Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash. His favourite song was Grandpa and someone sang it for him every time we went to karaoke.

 

Gerald adored his entire family and wanted to be part of everyone's functions.

Everyone was drawn to G's smile, soft voice, infectious laugh and his cute face.

Everyone loved and respected G and the feelings were reciprocated.

 

Gerald was a strong willed and stubborn man. But he had an enormous heart filled with love. If you knew G, you loved G. He will be dearly missed and loved forever.

 

The family would like to thank the paramedic who wouldn't give up on G and the staff at Seven Oaks 5th floor unit 7.

 

A celebration of life will be held at the Hartford legion on, Friday, September 1^st at 2pm.
