Obituary of LORNA JEAN SMITH

Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Lorna Jean Smith passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg Manitoba with her family by her side. She will be sadly missed by her children; Debbie (Wes), Jason (Muriel), Daryl (Saheem), Nikki (Roland), Grandchildren: Kelsey (Tristan), Tikara (Henry), Jenna (Chris), Carys, Liban, Carter, Darien, and Presley, Great Grandchild; Jaslyn. sisters/brothers; Jeannie Einarson, Joan Gamblin, Kenneth Gamblin, Tron Gamblin, Mike Gamblin, Charles Gamblin, Cindy Gamblin, Beverly Queskakapow, Glenn Turner and many nieces and nephews; Extended Monias and Smith Families.

Lorna was predeceased by her spouse; Dale (Sept 2022) and son; Derek (March 2022), Parents; Billy and Jane Mary Gamblin, Brother Edward Gamblin and sister Joyce Gamblin Grandson; Dalton Smith, numerous nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lorna was born on October 4,1951 in Cross Lake, Manitoba. She lived in Norway House, Leaf Rapids, Thompson, Nelson House, Oak Bank, and Winnipeg. Lorna was a Northern Nurse for thirty-seven years and made many special friends along the way. Lorna had a nurturing personality and had a profound impact on her patients, friends and community.

Lorna had a great sense of humour, loved to laugh and tell stories. She had such great love for her family and friends especially her grandchildren. Lorna will always be remembered for her kindness and acceptance for every person that crossed her path.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends forever and always.

The family thanks all the nurses and doctors that have been involved in her care.

Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment to take place on June 17, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue.
