Obituary of GERALD EDWARD PAGE

It is with profound sadness that we announce our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Gerry Page, who passed away on June 5th at the age of 81 years old.

Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife and best friend, Karen, of 57 years, his son, Michael, daughters, Michelle and Kelly (Paul) and grandsons Jordan, Eric, Kristofer and Jarrett and “his dog” Coco.

Gerry started his professional career by working at the Planning Department with the City of Winnipeg. Soon after, he joined the Winnipeg Fire Department and served 32 years, before retiring at the rank of Captain in 1996.

He met the love of his life, Karen, when they were 15 and have been inseparable since. Not one day went by that he did not show how much he loved her. They were soulmates until his last day.

Gerry loved life and had many passions. He loved family holidays, especially driving to Las Vegas and Phoenix a couple of times every year. He also enjoyed going on warm vacations with Karen in the winters to Mexico. In his later years, he looked forward to weekend getaways to Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen with her. Gerry always enjoyed the food and entertainment, but refused to ever put a dollar in a slot machine.

Gerry had a passion for working out. His devotion to fitness was inspirational and was passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was very proud of all three of his children competing in fitness competitions. Gerry found immense pride in his grandson’s accomplishments, with Jordan in law school, Eric at the Asper School of Business, and Kristofer and Jarrett with bright futures ahead of them.

Gerry had a love of cars which started when he bought his first car at 16 years old, a 1949 green Ford Mercury sedan. Later in life, he loved maintaining his Cadillacs and very much enjoyed driving. He enjoyed regularly dining out with Karen and they definitely had their favourite go-to restaurants.

Gerry was such a kind and gentle person who loved animals. In recent years, he enjoyed spending time with “his dog” Coco, who he adored immensely. He loved having her lay beside him and would give her all the treats her little heart desired.

Gerry lived for his family. He was always there for them, ensuring they were cared for. No words can express how much he was loved and will be missed.

In keeping with Gerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place with no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
