It is with deep sorrow that the family of Walter Szwarc announces his passing on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the Misericordia Health Centre in Winnipeg.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Adele, his beloved parents, Aniela and Jozef Szwarc, his sisters Krystyna Partyka (Frank), Joan Hoszowski (Zbigniew), and Anne Szwarc, and his brothers Stanley and Father Jacob Szwarc O.M.I..
Walter will be lovingly remembered by his children Richard (Tobi), Robert (Kristin), Christopher (Jacqueline), David, and Brian (Valerie), his cherished grandchildren Brendan and Brooklyn, and Walter’s sister, Mary Kaszuba (Stanley).
Born in 1937, in Poland, to Jozef and Aniela, Walter was the sixth of seven children. During the Second World War, Walter and his family were interned to a work camp in Germany. In 1950, at the age of 13, Walter arrived in Canada. In 1965, he married Adele and, together, they enjoyed 53 years of marriage and raised their five children.
Family was the center of his life and truly mattered most to Walter. He will be remembered for his unfailing love of family, his strength and energy, his love for laughter, his skilled hands, and his faith in God.
Husband, father and grandfather, memories of your strength of character, your courage and stoicism, and most of all, your authentic love for your family will comfort and sustain us. Our family has been truly blessed and you will forever be in our hearts and memories.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all who shared kindness, compassion, prayers and support.
