Obituary of MARGARET ILDERTON

MARGARET ILDERTON

November 29th, 1954 – April 28th, 2023

On Friday, April 28th, 2023, Margaret Ilderton passed away peacefully in the comforts of her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba at age 68.

Margaret leaves to mourn her siblings, Lawrence (Michelle, Paul, David), David (Ann, David, Diane), and Angela (Stacy) Keenan in the United Kingdom. Margaret is survived by her children Michael and Steven (Elena, Josephine, George) Lunt in Winnipeg.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence “Percy” and Matilda “Hilda,” her sister Susan (Willie, Eilidh, Stewart), second husband Michael, and first-born child, Kristy (1).

Margaret was born and raised in Tynemouth, England and was the eldest of 5 siblings. Her family later moved to Knottingley, England where she met and married her first husband, Keith, in 1973. In 1974, Margaret and Keith made the adventurous decision to move to Winnipeg, and began a new life in Canada with just the clothes on their backs.

Once in Canada, Margaret and Keith purchased their home on Peppertree Place, where they raised their two sons, Michael and Steven. The boys loved their lives in Canada, and went on to make their parents very proud.

In 1999, Margaret married her second husband, Michael, who introduced her to a life of new experiences.

Margaret tried her hand at many different jobs over the years before discovering her passion as an Educational Assistant with the Pembina Trails School Division. Margaret was a natural-born helper and thrived in her ever-changing role, assisting anyone and everyone in absolutely any way that she could. Margaret made a lasting impact on the countless students and colleagues she worked with and truly loved her role in the community.

Without question, Margaret’s heart was fullest when surrounded by the love and laughter of her two grandchildren, Josephine and George. Whether it was birthday parties, family get togethers, or trips to the Zoo, the kids never failed to put a smile on Margaret’s face and brought her unspeakable joy over the final 8 years of her life.

Margaret loved without condition and will be missed without question.

Love you, Mom.

Cremation has taken place and her sons Michael and Steven will be creating an online memorial to be shared with family and friends at a later date.
