Obituary of ROBERTA DONNA GANNON
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Roberta Donna Gannon, age 84, on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, Winnipeg.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Robert (Joyce), Laurie (Derek), her granddaughters Emily and Gwynneth, as well as many other family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband John Patrick Gannon in 2010 and her brother Alfred Care in 2019.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Donna lived most of her life in the city’s North End where she was happiest spending time visiting with her loved ones. Catching up on gossip over a slice of cherry cheesecake or her favourite O.V. beer was sure to bring out her sunshiny smile and her dry wit. While close to many people, the great love of her life was her husband John, whom she met while working at Universal Printers in Winnipeg, and whom she married in 1968. Together they led a fulfilling life, raising a family, loving their pet cats, and being active members of their faith community of St. Peter’s Parish. In their later years, they enjoyed travelling, visiting family across the country, going to Hawaii and Ireland, and taking a Caribbean cruise. At home, Donna enjoyed the simple pleasures of watching her favourite TV shows, going out for coffee, and popping into the casino when she had the chance. She loved talking on the phone, and made sure she kept in touch with everyone she cared about. We will all certainly miss her friendly chats!
The family thanks the staff on the fifth floor of Seven Oaks General Hospital for their compassion and care during Donna’s time there.
