Obituary of IRENE ANN CHUDY

IRENE ANNE CHUDY (BARSKY)
NOVEMBER 23, 1934 – APRIL 24, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Irene Chudy on April 24, 2023, at the Grace Hospital. Irene was 88 years old at the time of her passing, and she was surrounded by her loving family as she peacefully passed away.

Irene is survived by her children Christine Boychuk, Jim Chudy, Nancy Chudy (Ed), Donald Chudy, Darrell Chudy (Audrey), and Joanne Skzypek (John), as well as her beloved grandchildren, Tina Rosenberger, Mathew Boychuk (Ashley), Jamie Chudy-Parenteau (Terry), Chantal Chudy-Zdan, Zachary Cloutier, Nicole Madill-McKenzie (Rob) and Nash Skrzypek, along with great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous other extended family.  She is predeceased by her brother Donald Barsky.

Born on November 23, 1934, in Kenora, Ontario, to parents Steve and Pauline Barsky, Irene lived a full and meaningful life. After marrying Joseph Chudy, she settled in Flin Flon, Manitoba, where she raised her family. Later, when her children grew up, Irene moved to Winnipeg. She was fiercely independent-minded and lived on her own until the end with the aid of her primary caregivers, Nancy, Ed, and Chantal.

Irene was known for her generous spirit and willingness to help others whenever they needed it. She had a way of making people feel welcomed and loved, her home was always open to visitors. Irene was especially devoted to her grandchildren and took great joy in watching them all grow up. Her eagerness to look after her grandchildren (Chantal, Zachary and Nicole) at the drop of a hat was greatly appreciated and created fond memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Irene's faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she prayed daily for her family, friends, and those in need. Her devotion to God was evident in everything she did, from her kind words and actions to her unwavering love for all. In addition to her faith, Irene’s unmatched sense of humour and wit made for her remarkable ability to enthusiastically convey a story without missing a single detail.

In memory of Irene, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Irene had a deep love for animals throughout her life.

Irene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and independence will continue to inspire us for years to come. May she rest in peace.
