MIROSLAV BUKAL

Obituary of MIROSLAV VLADIMIR BUKAL

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Miroslav (Miro) Bukal on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 69.

Miro was predeceased by his first wife Milena (Millie) in 2010, father Vinko (1998), and mother Danica (2020). He is survived by his wife Anne Ostry, his children Anastasia, Alexander, and stepdaughter Diane.

Miro was born in Popovaća, Yugoslavia (now Croatia), November 28, 1953 and came to live in Winnipeg’s north end at 6 years of age. His work experience was diverse which included working for several provincial government departments and also owning his business as a transportation consultant. He also had military experience and was very proud of being part of the airborne unit. His “bad” knees came from making over 100 jumps out of planes.

Miro met his wife Millie through a family member and they were married for 29 years. After Millie passed away, Miro joined a bereavement group where he met and became friends with Anne. They shared the challenges of being widowed. They felt blessed to have found each other and married in 2014.

Miro showed his love by doing things for other people. He loved to cook by making scrumptious meals with a dash of Vegeta (Croatian food seasoning) added to most dishes. He took pleasure in fixing or building items for family members and friends. He recently completed a woodworking shop and was very excited to start fulfilling his dream in completing woodworking projects.

A service is being planned for a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
