Obituary of ZBIGNIEW DZIECIOL
1925 – 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Zbigniew Dzieciol on April 4, 2023 at the age of 97. Zbigniew was predeceased by his parents Wladyslaw Dzieciol and Antonina Chalkowski . He is survived by his sister Danuta Rucki. Zbigniew was born on November 3, 1925 in Wolomin,(near Warsar) Poland. At the age of 19, he joined an underground resistance known as ‘Armia Krajowa’ (Home Army) to liberate Warsaw from German occupation. The uprising was fought for 63 days with very little support from the outside.
In 1981 Zbigniew immigrated to Canada to join his sister and her family. He was employed as a roofer until his retirement.
Zbigniew was an active individual with many interests. During the summer he enjoyed going to the family cabin at Grand Beach. He enjoyed camping with friends but especially sitting around a campfire and singing songs from days gone by. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, mushroom and blueberry picking and travelling. His travels included many parts of Canada as well as Mexico, Cuba and going back to Poland.
Zbigniew was a friend to all, ready to offer his assistance when called upon whether it be fixing something around the house, providing company on a long road trip or babysitting. There was no task that was too difficult. He will be sadly missed by those who knew him.
We would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at St Boniface Hospital.
