Obituary of JUSTINA LISKA
JUSTINA LISKA
June 5, 1922 – February 18, 2013
It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of our much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Justina Liska. Justina passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18th.
She is survived by her children John (Suzanne), Joyce, and Janice (Gary Morwick) and grandchildren Kim (George Francis), Stephen, Lisa, Kevin and Tyler as well as two great grandchildren William and Andrew.
Justina was predeceased by her parents John and Anne Buchko, husband Bill and sisters Kay, Mary, Olga and Anne.
Tina grew up in North End Winnipeg where she met the love of her life, Bill. They were married on April 18, 1942. Her life with Bill was adventuresome and led her to live in Calgary, Yorkton, North Battleford, Regina and returning back to Winnipeg.
Mom loved gardening and was an avid bowler. She loved playing cards, especially whist, cribbage and 31.
Mom’s greatest enjoyment was her children and grandchildren whom she treasured.
Most recently she was happy to meet her great-grandchildren, William and Andrew.
Justina and Bill spent many happy days at the fishing lodge at Bird Lake. They loved travelling and took many cruises. Mom especially enjoyed her backyard and the outdoors. When the grandchildren were younger, she loved taking them for a walk to the playground at Fraser’s Grove Park. Mom loved the theatre, symphony and especially Folklorama. Mom was an excellent cook, but also enjoyed eating out. Her two favorites were Chinese food and crepes.
Mom had an impish smile and a great sense of humour which were enjoyed by all her family and friends. She loved celebrating family birthdays, most recently her 90th birthday on June 5th.
Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe and Watt. Interment at Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 Main Street.
