MARIO BRAICO

Obituary of MARIO JOHN BRAICO

MARIO JOHN BRAICO

Passed away peacefully on January 22, 2023 at Saint Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, at the age of 90 years.

Mario was predeceased by his parents Romano and Antonia Braico, brother Joe Braico, sister Maria Zigante, and father- and mother-in-law Walter and Ellen Molinski.

Mario is lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia, son John (Susan), daughter Laura (Jeremy), and granddaughters Julia, Gwyneth, Maddie, and Hannah. He also leaves his family overseas in Italy and Croatia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family in Canada.

Mario was born and raised in Trieste, Italy, emigrating to Canada with his cousin Joe in the late 1950’s. He met and married Patricia in Winnipeg, then built the house in Southdale that he raised his family in and lived in until his passing.

He purchased Londero’s Wrecking from the original owner in the late ‘60’s and built the business into one of Winnipeg’s most successful demolition companies in the ‘70’s, ‘80’s, and ‘90’s. After retirement, he took pride in growing tomatoes in his and Patricia’s garden, winemaking each autumn, cheering on the Bombers, and spending time with his beloved granddaughters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Saint Boniface Hospital for their kindness during Mario’s brief stay in their care.

A private Celebration of Life was held at Cropo Funeral Chapel on January 30, 2023. Thanks to Cropo for hosting the service and reception and to Monsignor Maurice Comeault for officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the charity of their choice.

Amen.
