Obituary of HELENA MAJEWSKI

Helena Majewski

December 11, 1929 -  December 14, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Helena Majewski (nee Gibek) announces her peaceful passing on December 14th, 2022 at Tuxedo Villa in Winnipeg.

Left to mourn her passing are her sons Henry (Dorthy), Richard (Patricia) and Bernie (Jayann); grandchildren Sheena, Andy (Crystal), Jayde, Tianna (Carey) and Nikala (Kurt); great grandchildren Kayden, Hazel and Icelyn. Helena was predeceased by her parents Marianna and Józef Gibek, her sisters Cecylia and Janina; brothers Jan, Józef and Mietek and her loving husband of 60 years, Boleslaw (Bob).

Helena was born on December 11, 1929 on a farm near Malyszyn, Poland. She came to Canada in 1948, settled in Winnipeg and worked as a nursing assistant at Saint Boniface Sanatorium. She married Bob on July 24, 1949 and was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Helena loved spending time with family and preparing incredible feasts. She made friends everywhere she went with her warm smile, generosity and amazing stories. She was an avid gardener, seamstress and knitter, loved to follow sports and take long walks with Bob and family to Assiniboine Park and its gardens. She was a devoted Roman Catholic, and loved to listen to Polish mass on the radio when she could no longer attend in person. Helena’s lifelong curiosity, determination, ingenuity, and kindness will make her sadly missed by all who knew her.

A special thanks to all those who were so helpful and kind to Helena, especially the staff at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home for the wonderful care of our mom.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on January 3, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CNIB or a charity of your choice.
