NELLA D'IGNAZIO

Obituary of NELLA D'IGNAZIO

NELLA D’IGNAZIO (NEE MARINELLI)

August 20, 1931-November 23, 2022

On November 23 at 12:31pm, Ma left this earth with her daughter by her side. We are thankful for the life of Nella and all she did for our families and others. We find comfort knowing that she is now with Jesus and her dear husband.

Ma was predeceased by her husband Mario and many relatives.

Ma was born in San Giorgio Di Crognaleto on August 20, 1931. She was an intelligent person with minimal education. At a young age, she started working in Rome. After marrying Mario, they moved to Winnipeg with their newborn Donatella to start a better life.

Nella had many jobs, but her favourite was working at Eaton’s. She had an affinity for real estate, especially buying homes.

What Ma lacked in stature; she made up for with her dynamic personality. Ma was determined, direct, fierce, a fighter, and fearless. No matter what obstacle life threw her way, she never gave up. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Ma and Pa worked tirelessly to support their family. This includes Donatella (Claudio), Marcello (Marcia), Liana (Tony) and grandchildren Kristian (Courtney), Matthew, Peyton, Melisa, Luca, Luca, and Nico. Her grandchildren were her greatest joys.

Ma’s interests included cooking, baking, music, dancing, needlepoint, shopping, gardening, sports, and knitting.

Ma had wonderful caregivers, Romieliza and Mary Jane. They were angels that supported Nella.

We would like to thank the compassionate care at St. Boniface Hospital and the staff on the 5th Floor. Your care was appreciated during this difficult time. You made our mother’s passing a peaceful one and we are forever grateful.

Pallbearers will be Tony, Kristian, Matthew, Luca, Nico, John, and Carlo.

A private family funeral will be held to celebrate Ma’s life.

Mother In Heaven Poem

If roses grow in Heaven, Lord,
Please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother’s arms
And tell her they’re from me.
Tell her that I love and miss her,
And when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek,
And hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it everyday,
But there’s an ache within my heart
That will never go away.
